Northwest Communities’ Education Center (NCEC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering communities through education, communication, and access to trusted information. Based in Granger, Washington, NCEC serves the diverse communities of the Yakima Valley and surrounding regions with programs designed to strengthen civic participation, expand educational opportunities, and support community well-being.
NCEC is the parent organization of Radio KDNA 91.9FM, a community-based public radio station that has served Central Washington since 1979. KDNA was founded by community leaders who recognized the need for accessible media that reflects and serves the region’s farmworker and Latino communities. Today, the station continues that mission by providing culturally relevant programming, local news, educational content, music, and community resources in both Spanish and English.
Broadcasting 24 hours a day, KDNA reaches listeners across the Yakima Valley and beyond with programming that informs, educates, and connects people to important services and opportunities. The station is powered by a dedicated team of staff, volunteers, and community contributors who help ensure that local voices are heard.
Through radio broadcasting, educational initiatives, and community partnerships, Northwest Communities’ Education Center works to build stronger, more informed communities. Our programs focus on increasing access to information, promoting civic engagement, supporting youth education, and creating opportunities for community members to share their stories and perspectives.
Together, NCEC and Radio KDNA provide a trusted platform where culture, education, and community voices come together to inform and inspire. More than a radio station, NCEC and KDNA is a community hub – connecting people with the information, culture, and voices that matter most in their daily lives.
Our Mission
Radio KDNA will direct its efforts as a minority public radio station in response to the cultural and informational isolation of Hispanic/Latino and other disadvantaged communities. KDNA will produce quality radio programming to help such communities overcome barriers of literacy, language, discrimination, poverty, and illness. In this way, KDNA will empower these communities to more fully participate in our multiethnic society.
Who We Serve
NCEC/KDNA serves all communities in the lower Yakima Valley but specifically targets the Hispanic/Latino, farmworker, and other disadvantaged communities. Radio KDNA will produce quality radio programming to help such communities overcome barriers of literacy, language, discrimination, poverty, and illness.
